I think Broner, as much as I dislike the dude would beat the brakes off of Gamboa. Gamboa last fought at 126, has been inactive and has always been a bit chinny, against less than quality opponents.

While he's faster than Broner, it isn't by much and I don't see a huge gap in talent either. I think Gamboa is only slightly more talented, but barely. Frankly, Broner's size and reach advantage, coupled with his talent should be more than enough for a guy moving up two or more divisions. Manny Pacquiao, Gamboa is not. They both have fought cupcakes mostly, and Broner and Gamboa have about equal in quality win(s) (DeMarco and Siri). This supposed shut-out just makes no sense. Guys, please stop, you're killing me

The thing is, Broners management is keeping him away from guys that can move. His wide stance would really give him problems with Gamboa.

Gamboa has some of the best angles and movement in the game today, even if he was rusty his last time out, it would be a problem for Broner.

    • I like both guys, but man Gamboa would get Pacquiao'd against Broner. It would fun and competitive up to that point though.

But Broner has those attributes to. What Gamboa has that works against him is leaky defense and a suspect chin. Broner is the bigger fighter as well. As they say a great big man beats a great little man and that's what we'll see with a Broner vs. Gamboa fight. Broner will win. KO in 6. After he survives Gamboa initial barrage, he'll pick him apart.
Sadly, I must agree with the bold. I wouldn't bet on Gamboa to win this match-up...but I wouldn't count him out, either.

What did Broner weigh on the night of his last fight? Yuri reportedly weighed 148 last night.

        • Nothing's changed, still got Gamboa.

He wouldn;t walk around with his hands down and stick his chin out at Broner, he's fight serious as he does in all his bigger fights. The foot speed, movement and angles would be the difference.

Size is a good thing to have as an advantage and Broner does. However, being more skilled, faster, far more experienced and simply a better fighter is what Gamboa has in his favour. Even moving up, I'd also be confident in saying Gamboa hits harder.

Gamboa being 'chinny' isn't really anything, he was often knocked off balance because of his reckless nature, not hurt. That reckless style has been balanced out with patience and smarts over the last few years.
Gamboa was hurt bad by that left hand. A fighter with killer instinct would have finished Gamboa.

Yeah, there's no way Yuri would fight that way against Broner. Gamboa knew he was in against inferior opposition last night. (Although he did underestimate Farenas.) One of my biggest problems with Yuri, in his most recent fight, was that he stood to admire his work a little too much. There's just nothing good about that.

So Broner doesnt have foot speed? Movement? Or angles? Broner beats Gamboa, maybe stops him late.

I think that every fighter in that weight class will get hurt from that left hand .he took it good but I bet that most 130 would have gotten paquiao'd

                    • Gamboa was rusty as hell after a 15 month layoff. Plus, looks like he forgot or simply decided not to do the things he's been working on such as keeping his hands up and executing a more all around "tight" game (not being so reckless, keeping his punches short not wide, etc.).

Hopefully Gamboa can tighten up his game otherwise, broner would probably knock him out.
