  • Buying My First Gun

Looking for advice on my first Gun, I've shot Hand Guns, Shotguns, AR-15's and several other Guns but this is the first time I'm purchasing a gun .... who else would I turn to for advice other than my BS brothers

It's for Home Defense, and I'm leaning towards a Shotgun

    I Like the Mossberg 500, Mossberg 590A1 & Remmington 870 Tactical Shotguns

Let me know what you guys think and if you have any experience with them

I'm leaning towards this Mossberg 500 that I saw in the store

      for home self defense?

if only 1 gun. get a revolver 1st.

if you can get both. get a revolver and shotgun.

any mossberg 500/590, winchester 1300, remington 870 is fine.

      they're all the same.

whatever you do keep the stock.

some ppl want "COOL" pistol grips or folding stock.

      they're not comfortable to shoot.

only upgrade i recommend is attaching shellholders.

either on the side or the stock.

      maybe a flashlight foreend.

Yeah the Shotgun I'm looking at is in my post, I'm definitely Keeping the stock w/ shell holders and I really wanted to add the flashlight

As far as the revolver (or handgun) I'm scheduled to take the mandatory gun class this Sat ... Any suggestions as far as that's concerned? ?

          revolver is always good.

.357 so you have option of using .357 or .38 special.

your girl can handle .38 easy but most girls don't like .357.

my sis and exes never liked 357. but they shot fullpower 45 and 40 fine.

they liked 38 cause the recoil and noise is mild.

the 357 muzzle blast, recoil and noise they don't like.

Alright ... I'm gonna grab the Mossberg 500 bc I've been leaning towards that for a min, and I'm gonna look into the revolvers you mentioned, before buying a handgun I need to take a class Sat. that cost me $175 damn .... so i'm going to look into the .357

hmmm is that a CAR-15 telescoping stock on your gun?

is it good for absorbing shotgun recoil?

ppl like it because it looks cool. i've seen it on AKs and shotguns.

but an AR has light recoil. shotgun is different.

i think a regular stock is better.

how much do you plan to shoot it?

if not a lot it's fine.

but if you plan to shoot a lot, get a regular stock.

              trust me.

              a few rounds is cool.

but after a few reload the pistol grip or folding stock types start hurting.

i had a double pistol grip, no stock winchester 1300 before.

it looked cool but after a magazine (7 shells) the web of my hand started hurting.

I have glock 19. My first and only gun. Shotgun is too big to hide if you have children visitors or children of your own. Revolver only has 6 bullets, so I didn't like it if I end up shooting intruders, the more ammo the better.

                  taurus or ruger.

                  smith and wesson is pricey.
