Its amusing to learn how much fans overvalue their influence.

Do any of you really think that because you're unhappy with a few decisions that the money will stop rolling in?

      Boxing has seen worse decisions.

Its survived desegregation. Its survived fatalities. Its survived fixes and bribes.

Its survived both King and Arum.

If boxing was dying, wouldn't it have been dead by now?

      I've said this years ago:

Anyone can be a megastar. It just takes the right marketing and right touch to frame a person's talent.

Its no different than today's musicians. Compared to artists 20-40 years they have little talent, but they are more popular than those artists ever were.

So many of you new fans think that boxing is Floyd and Manny. Hahahah .. no.

Floyd probably thought the same thing in 2007. Then Arum, Roach and HBO took a little guy who looked impressive in lower weights and built him up into the proverbial Stay Puft Marshmallow Man .. an overhyped media creation justified by taking on the former opponents of the true P4P#1. It didn't matter if he had Floyd's skills, style or even won matches as legitimately. It only mattered that he was exciting and that the fans loved him.

When Floyd and Manny leave, there will be someone else.

Maybe Ward. Maybe Dawson. Maybe Bradley. Maybe Broner. Maybe Russell jr. Maybe Donaire. Maybe Gamboa. Or some up and coming HW.

It all depends who is willing to sell their soul to King or Arum. Once they do, they will instantly become better than Ali, and a contender for Ray Robinson's P4P ranking.

Stars aren't born. They're made on the sketch pads of the greedy promoters and the networks.

They are picked, and their paths are picked for them. They aren't in control, and Ali, Mayweather and Pacquiao are prime examples of that. Mayweather being the only one to escape out of the three.

Boxing will not only be fine. It will thrive for as long as cut throats and greedy promoters and network execs run the show. And they will.

That's boxing for you. Love it or leave it. Judging by the numbers, people are loving it more and more with each fight.

Boxing isn't dead, but matchmaking is. I doubt the younger fighters will get the big events necessary to build their names. For example, Arum holding off on making Gamboa-Lopez. Lopez would've been better off getting destroyed by Gamboa than Salido.

Edit: Arum needs to die for the sport to move forward.

Broner will not be the one to carry the torch once Pacquiao Floyd and the brothers at Heavyweight retire. Ward deserves to be huge , he actually fights people worth mentioning.

Donaire, Broner, Chavez jr., Canelo, Mares, Gamboa and so on, are great for the sport and will keep die hard boxing fans entertained for years to come. But to capture the hearts of regular fans, boxing needs an international super stars like a De La Hoya, Mike Tyson, Ray Leonard, ect.

Pac and Mayweather really had excellent stories, excellent matchups and excellent hype.
Both have character and personality to draw people into the sport.. If someone will carry the sport they better start being popular by now because floyd and pac are on the decline. they should land a win over these guys.. right now, i dont see anyone solid. Before DLH was gone, everybody already saw that pac and may would carry it, but right now i dont see anyone else the way I saw them before.. matchmakings of how pac elevated his status on the sport is rare to find.. and how these guys were continually matched is truly rare. like mayweather's comeback etc. I hope there is someone.. starts by now..

Maybe in Germany but not here in the US. The Klitchkos are killing the heavyweigh division in terms of fan support.
