I haven't watched Idol in years. Since when do they let people play instruments during the competition? I thought this was about finding the best singers, not the best overall musical performers.

I never really took AI contestants for legitimate artists to begin with, but the year Silver Frankenstein (Taylor Hicks) won was when I tuned out, because it had become a total joke.
