  • Is it disgraceful for a mandatory to backout of a title shot because of a hotel room?

Let's say you were getting a mandatory shot against the #1 HW in the world for a chance to get 3 titles off him and you were getting paid $2.5 million, 10 times more money than you have ever seen in your past fights. There are no rematch clauses and your promotional team lost the bid because they bid half of the Champ's bid, so in the end it actually worked out well for you because now your share of the purse is twice as much. According to the mandatory rules, the champ gets to dictate small details about the contract, and he tells you that you must stay in such and such hotel, but he was paying for the hotel stay for you and your whole team. Would you ditch the shot at 3 belts and $2.5 million because you didn't like the hotel you were staying in?

Are you crazy? I turned a pro boxer for a reason, give me the $2.5 million and a shot at 3 belts.

Yes, the hotel room stay for a week is that much more important (also the color of my panties)..

What Gayelord voted for the hotel room over $2.5 million and a shot at 3 belts?

Not only is that not the point, but it's probably also not the only reason.

What kind of man wants to pick where another man stays? You don't find that somewhat sad? It's pretty pathetic that one man feels like he needs to control each and every aspect of another mans life.

well, think about it. what if the panties Wladimir picked out for him were tampered with? like with thorns in them or some kind of acid? It would be pretty difficult to fight under those conditions.

Lets be honest, you ought to be able to pick out your own undergarments.

I voted are you crazy if that is the only reason, imho challengers should have a mentality of the challenger until he becomes a champion, to bad these days, being the champion is no longer as special as it was ...

That was the reason Povetkin gave, that and because Wlad told him what gloves to wear, for not going through with the fight.

Or they had too much lace... you are right, Povetkin is a true fighter and man, nothing is more disturbing to find out that you have been placed in a 4 star hotel when you wanted to stay in a 5 star one.

And because he was trying to pick where and what he was allowed to eat.

If you're going to quote it, do it right.

Either way.. there's nothing wrong with not wanting to let another man control your entire life. What's sad, is that Wlad actually WANTS to control that much. What's sadder than that, is that you're defending it.

It's fight negoatiations... Wlad is acting like his fucking wife.

You do know how a mandatory process works in boxing, don't you? Do you what "mandatory" means and how the purse bid process works? If you don't, I suggest you read up on it ASAP before you post on a boxing forum.
