Its offical the UK is the first naton to have an Aircraft Carrier with no aircraft

We are scrapping all but one of are carriers, we will be keeping one but the government has decided to get rid of all UK Harriers meaning it will not have any aircraft, in about 10-12 years time we will have new carriers with F-35 aircraft, all though embarrassingly despite being nearly the size of a Nimitz class we will only have 12 aircraft flying from them. We have also just scrapped the new version of the sea patrol Nimrod meaning the whole of the UK part of the North Sea is basically unprotected.

Yeah Ark Royal is being sold/scraped in the next few months despite going through a £300m refit recently, Illustrious or Ocean will carry on. Ocean is an LPH and cant really do ASW very well it has a top speed of just 18knots.
The new Aircraft Carriers we are building are now being redesigned to operate the F-35C which is good but there will only be enough aircraft for 12 to operate at a time.
The Nimrod (we just spent £3 billion building new ones) which protects are nuclear subs when they go out onto patrol as well as protecting and patroling the north sea is ditched meaning pirates could operate a few miles of the cost of the UK and we wouldnt have a clue whats going on lol.
The Army will lose half its tanks and artillery.
The Airforce and the Navy lose all Harriers.

Its stupid who knows what will happen in the next 10 years? a new war could very easily start up and we would not be able to defend ourselves. We are also in a war atm that most people i know didn't or don't want to be part off anymore and the Army is still getting 8k jobs cut...

Are they redesigning the Carriers to take American and French aircraft or something now?

The Tories have got this all wrong.

The banks who ****ed us over in the first place should now be paying back what they owe plus the proposed 'Robing Hood Tax' should be implemented asap.

That would help alot more than what they are currently doing by making another half a million unemployed and leaving our country defencless with no Aircract carriers.

The bankers keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer.

Russia still operates subs in the north-sea and often there aircraft enter UK space but Russian wont attack us in the near future. The real problem imo is that we now have no real protection of the UK coast line so Pirates, Terrorist and drug runners can operate just off the UK and we could not do much about it. The Navy losses about 8 more frigates and destroyers and the RAF losses maritime patrol aircraft makes for a bad mix.

I think it would be safe to say if that happened, there would be American ships patrolling those waters in no time. I don't think the UK has anything to worry about really.

Yeah they are fitting catapults to them so that the Americans can land on there to fill out the numbers. If we ever get any problems in the UK coastline or in the Falklands we can ask the French for help.
