  • Would a win against Canelo make Lara popular enough to make a Mayweather fight?

Right now he's pretty unknown to the casuals. With hardly any real opponents for Mayweather, would this outcome make the fight attractive to a broad audience?

Mayweather will never fight Lara despite what he has done already and what he'll do in the future. I guarantee it.

Winner will be more in the spotlight than any other current prospective opponent

Just not happening as Lara will never bring much money to a fight and as we all know Floyds all about the money.

If anyone truly believes that it's popularity that gets a Floyd fight, they're crazy.

depends on how he wins. if lara can somehow knock out canelo then there is no way mayweather fight's him. but if lara can barely etch out a win and look bad in doing so, then yeah, mayweather would cherry pick 'em

Don't think Floyd would ever fight him.

              A) best fighter in his weight class
              B) brings less money than an easy cherry pick

Despite what some say, a Lara-Mayweather fight would sell well. Hardcore boxing fans know that, at the very least, Lara would give Mayweather a much more competitive fight than the usual opponents. The talk from hardcore fans would reach the ears of casual fans.

Mayweather fought Cotto who lost to Trout. Lara schooled Trout. Mayweather fought Canelo. If Lara beats Canelo, a Mayweather-Lara fight will be begging to be made.
