Maybe, but he's more seasoned than the likes of Peterson and Alexander. And anyways, Maidana could be the equivalent of someone like Malignaggi nowadays until Malignaggi proves otherwise.

Although you may be right, until we see him fight someone that can put up some resistance, we wont know. he wont knock paulie out in 5 rounds or less. so that will be more of a challenge for the simple fact that its gonna go at least 8

Ortiz deserve a title shot after he KO Maussa in 1 round!
And a decent contender like Arnoutis in the second round.

I agree, Ortiz deserves a title shot, but perhaps not Khan and certainly not Salita.

Salita has never defeated a top 100 light welterweight, and has struggled against low-level clubfighters.

Arnaoutis was supposed to be that guy and he blew him out which was why it was so impressive, it's not like Ortiz hasn't gone rounds before, Emmanuel Clottey stretched him to 10, he's been the distance before, he's fought the fellow prospects, the gatekeepers and the experienced veterans, the next logical step is either a fight against a top contender or a title shot, he's killing 2 birds with one stone by fighting Maidana, who is a top contender and he's fighting him in an interim title fight so it's fine with me and the fight should be really good.

Yeah, they probably would. But they still don't draw the same crowds, boxing is a bussiness these days. Sad, but true.

man im looking at the man in 140 (pacquiao) and comparing the two. its no doubt that ortiz is the top prospect at 140. I think that titles holders have the obligation to unify. If you arent ready for that, you dont need to have a belt. Do you think ortiz is ready for that? i mean, he can still make a name for himself without a title so i say he should get some names under his belt before he start calling himself champion.

I think that overall, tites are too easy to get in boxing.

if he gets ktfo, then how can you use him for business?

Because Khan is popular. I will back Khan no matter what. All of his fights are exciting.

Already worth around £6m and he is only 23.

The sanctioning bodies won't allow the fighters to unify or if they allow the fighters to unify they won't let the winner keep both belts like what happened to Bradley and a lot of the fighters don't really want to unify anyways, there's no guarantee that Kotelnik will unify, actually it's probably less likely that a unification would happen with Kotelnik as titlist. Urango is moving up to fight Berto and might stay at 147 if he wins and he hasn't called for unification so it's doubtful any unification will happen.

I think Ortiz crossed from top prospect to serious contender when he blew out Arnaoutis and I think he is ready to hold a title, he might not be ready for the elite like Pacquiao but he is ready for the Kotelniks of 140 IMO and maybe even the Urangos.

I agree that titles are too easy to get nowadays, maybe 20 or 30 years ago he'd need more time to develop but he's ready for it in today's world of boxing IMO.

He already got KTFO, he still had a huge fan base. Look at Ricky Hatton, even after getting KTFO by Pac, if he fought again, it's sure he could draw a massive crowd, and make a lot of money.
