Gesta does not, I repeat, does not need to step up the competition. This is where he's at right now, he has to get past a few more of these guys and look good doing it, before they feed him to the lions. He has to cause a stir in the division and knocking out class c fighters isn't going to do it, but if he wants to protect that zero, this is where he's at.

You are spot on. If he steps up in competition he will get beat and everyone will say he has been exposed, when in fact he just wasnt ready for that field of competition. He should definitely continue fighting who he has been fighting until he is ready.

Having said all that, I dont see Gesta making much noise. Right now he just doesnt stand out to me as someone who has the potential to be a huge star.

Dont expect much out of Gesta. He is just a kid who got into boxing recently. He has no amateur record. To even look like the kind of fighter he is - which is very competent is impressive IMO

If he doesnt beat this Barnett guy he should be embarrassed and deported immediately back to Philippines though

I dont think gesta should look for broner right nor or even in near future he should first build his resume better and get better himself if he goes for broner it will not be good for him right now.
I favor him in this fight though also think magdaleno will ko this guy

Glad to see some people with some common sense in here instead of bashing Gesta for whatever reason...

This should be a good test for him, a taller guy. Let's see how he deals with it. And I hope they televise Jesse too.

Barnett is terrible. ESPN should be ashamed for allowing him to fight in a Main Event.
