No, they are not forced. It called an incentive. They charge an extra 1% on tax if income earners over 100,000 don’t take up private health insurance. This does work wonders, since most of them if not all have private health insurance. It helps free up the public hospitals for lower income earners. While richer folks get their private hospitals.

Nobody is actually saying this though. Doctors are highly paid in places with publicly funded healthcare just as they are in places with purely private healthcare.
