I'm personally not so sure regular folks really need semi-auto military style weapons, but as i said above, I would still want the option, then having it taken away.
I just wonder if they will make drastic changes when so many Americans own guns and it's such big business. They know the backlash will be massive
the problem with so called ASSAULT WEAPONS ban is simple.

something non gun people don't understand. i'll give an example.

which of these 2 should be banned? which legal?

      Two things....

#1 - America is a gun culture. I know the pro gun people get mad when they here this but it's true. Since the days of the revolution, to the Wild West to now, Americans love their guns the way they love their cars. They have also been brainwashed to think that if you own a gun, you are MORE American than the one's who don't.

#2 - Big business is right, that's what this is all about. The NRA at one point and time was a huge player in govt, they have lobbyists who they paid very well to make sure certain gun laws stayed on the books and we didn't deviate from them. The bottom line is, we do preventative medicine with everything else EXCEPT guns. When it comes to drugs, toys, or any product we deem dangerous, we ban them or change them drastically.

Because of money we don't do that with guns. The hypocrisy is staggering when you think about it and since most Americans are now leaning the opposite way the NRA wants them to, they are in a state of panic and selling fear through Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh to white Americans on their afternoon lunch breaks.

Reality is, nobody wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment, we just want to define it so we can relate to it in 2013.

there's more money in drugs and toys than guns.

you really do need to stop talking nonsense.

and the NRA is still powerful. probably only 2nd to the AARP.

The legal or illegal drugs? and toys aren't built to kill human beings, guns are.

I'm the one talking nonsense though....

Let me guess, your going to make the ridiculous car analogy next right?

            both illegal and legal drugs.

            and definitely toys.

it is nonsense when you lie and make up stuff.

i don't really care what you believe.

but don't talk out of your ass and make false statements because you're trying to make an argument on a topic you know very little about.

i don't need generic analogies, bogus stats and make grand false statements. i know how to talk. i'm not a naive, left wing socialist reactionary trying to sell his views.

I'm not a gun person at all, I've shot a few but I know nothing about them

My first thoughts on those guns is the bottom one probably uses larger rounds and could be made into an automatic easier then the rifle above?
If that assumption is right and based on having to pick one of them to ban in this scenario, then I would pick the bottom one....but there is a twist here, so let me have it

                      same gun.

                      same company.

                      same model.

                      same caliber ammo.

                      same design.

                      same everything.

                      guns are very simple things.

there's little mechanical difference between most designs.

the biggest problem with laws against so called assault weapons is defining it.

think of how to define an assault weapon and i'll show you a "normal" gun "regular" gunowners use.
