yea stupid, like mayweather teaching hatton to be slick

they all have their preferences of teaching

I think he is good, but like others said he just plays on the boxers strengths and doesn't appear to do anything with their weakness..
but then again that could be a good thing..both pac and khan have had hard opponents recently, wait until next year when they are back on form and everyone jumps back on roach's nuts

Roach is not a perfect trainer. He takes raw fighters with speed and offensive potential and makes them more technically sound, and provides them with a basic, but still much more effective, defensive style to make up for their liabilities. and thats a very good fit for many fighters like Manny and Khan.

all trainers, except for guys like Futch and Arcel, have their weak points and strong points, and theres only so much they can do with a fighter who already have specific physical qualities, skill level and mentality.
get real the only thing roach has taught kahn is to use a high guard to protect his chin and you dont need to be a pro trainer to do that just have common sense. roach teaches his fighters to be more technically sound okay just like he taught pac to be a two handed technician boxer right open your eyes roach isnt as good as people think he is.

Well just look at Roach the fighter, he wasn't some clever guy in the ring and he didn't have any real tricks.

With certain guys he does work well though, for a guy that is a go get'em type to me that is right in his wheel house, and guys that are good enough at what they do can really shine because he keeps it simple.

When things get tricky though Freddy is out of his depth, because he doesn't work on complex things only simple.

Still a lot of that comes down to what a fighter is capable of and really most fighters are better off with his approach as in most situations keeping it simple and playing to strength is a fine way to go, just when his guys run into guys that don't allow his guys to play to strength (or their strength just isn't good enough) there are issues but it isn't like that is an uncommon problem or something easy to pull off.

Am I the only one considering that Roach can't verbalize the suggestions he wants his fighters to make because of his Parkinson's?

              Bad year for Roach.

Once his fighters started churning out KO's your tune will change.

              People have very short memory.

Ariza is part of Roach's camp. A trainer without sparring, equipment, or assistant trainers can do very little, even if theyre amazing.

and regardless, Khan looks sharper in his punches, and the generic guard Roach taught him helps him to not take as many punches and survive against shots that used to **** his day up. You cant just say that conditioning was the only change.

Of course Pacquiao is technically skilled, look at his offensive arsenal you numbskull. and hes been a 'two handed fighter' since his featherweight days, I dont know where this myth perpetuated from.

and that high guard defense wasnt in place or useful with Khan's old trainers pre Roach, so apparently he did the right thing.

people keep on *****ing about the trainer, but in reality Roach is a good fit for Manny and Khan, who else would you rather see them with?

pac still the same fighter of back then with little change and kahn is worst technically now then he was then. roach only teach one way he is not versital in styles and linaers proved that he turned him into a brawler which he isnt linaers is a counter puncher roach ruined him.any trainer that can teach the basics and give good coner advice would do wonders with kahn and pac to many to list pick one that not roach and they will improve these 3 fighters.
