  • Comments Thread For: Ruenroeng, Casimero Make Weight Following Photo-Op Confusion

The actual fight itself isn't for another day, yet the rematch between Amnat Ruenroeng and Johnriel Casimero is already mired in controversy.

Both fighters made weight ahead of their flyweight title fight sequel, each coming in right at the 112-pound flyweight divisional limit. Confusion came prior to what actually served as the official weigh-in, when each boxer was led to believe they were well above the limit.

Because several other outlets (including those on location) reported that they both missed weight, that an arrangement was made for a non-title fight at 115 and all sorts of other craziness. It was a major story this morning.

We didn't print anything until obtaining clarification from the IBF. So no, we didn't print the wrong info. But yes, there is a point to the story.

As long as they let Ruenroeng do Muy tai take downs and choke holds, I just see an ugly fight. He took Casimero down at least 10 times in their first fight, the ref got tired of getting them off the floor. That's not boxing.
