Schaefer is a smart business man who knows how to get things done in this sport there's no doubt. However he's shady, turned a blind eyed on things on Golden Boy Promotions and attempted to screw Oscar over.

It didn't work. Golden Boy Promotions is thriving. Yes they pretty much had to start over but their moving forward in the right direction now.

Schaefer has a ways to go before getting on a equal playing field. Golden Boy is a power house still and are building their young talent the right way.

In order for a boxing promoter to thrive, he needs to generate revenue from TV networks or digital distribution. GBP has neither. All they get is an occasional single fight from HBO, an occasional HBO Latino date for no $$ and big fat nothing from online distribution for free.

The only revenue-generating events are Canelo fights - but GBP paid Canelo $15 MILLION to re-sign him, so they are still in the hole big time.
