        Sure, let's just pretend no one knows he's from Kazakhstan and being from Kazakhstan isn't a massive part of his identity (he's very nationalistic). He was born in Karagandy, Kazakhstan. His mother was born in Kazakhstan, his father, Gennady Ivanovich Golovkin, was also born in Kazakhstan, an industrial coal miner of Russian heritage. Sure he has Russian blood in him, just like he has Korean blood in him being that a huge migration of Koreans to Kazakhstan occurred in the 1930's when Russia (Stalin) forcibly transferred Koreans (who originally migrated to the Russian empire in the 1800's) to central Asia. These people are known as Koryo-saram. That certainly doesn't make him Russian. This is a common makeup of Kazakh people as Kazakhstan is a melting pot of many different nationalities/ethnic grouops. Golovkin is Kazakh.
