  • So WTF is Haymons Ultimate Goal Here? To Secure A Big Deal?

Think of this. UFC got 100m a year from Fox. Thats ****ing insane. More then HBO and Showtime combined budgets by a wide margin. The thing is, UFC administration takes 75% + of the cake...

With boxing a 100m dollar deal would allow every big fight you have to be thrown on one channel.

Imagine a 150m or 200m dollar deal. All the marketing/shows etc.

I think Haymon is looking at securing a big deal with all these timeshares on different networks.

    Oh ya #takeover

seems like Haymon is doing a trial period with various networks, if the ratings sore the demand and bidding war will ensue and he could wind up with the highest bidder of the different networks.

I think he is trying to eliminate all promotional outfits. As a manager, he is looking to maximize money for he and his clients. By setting things up the way he is, he is virtually eliminating the need for his fighters to pay any promotional fees.

TV commercials, social media and multiple TV platforms like NBC and ESPN. Schaeffer and all the ex GBP employees will likely join in. Why does a fighter need a promoter?

I think he is also trying to make things hard for HBO since they refused to work with him.

Promoters are a joke. Think about it. Even with HBO/Showtime who is doing all the leg work in promoting/marketing? Sure as **** isnt Arum. Sure isnt DLH.

Haymon managing all these boxers with networks doing the leg work and someone like Schaeffer on the payroll as a middle man and voice of the company would be more profitable for boxers and cut out a lot of bull****.

He's replacing promoters by becoming a psuedo-promoter. He is working with every channel because it's other people's money. Not sure what the end goal is right now, but he's smart so it will probably work out.

            A couple of things:

            1. Put the networks at a bidding war
            2. Put the promoters at a bidding war for fights

            I like the idea.

I heard some rumors last year that said he might be launching his own online subscription website. The UFC and WWE tried that I dont think its worked out too well for either

Its like the NBA or NFL rookie wage scale-all it does is eliminate the need to give an agent 10% since your number is already determined and the max deal re up is set. Hire a lawyer at 4%. Saves you millions.

If you are a great, popular fighter-why the fuck would you want to pay a Don King or Arum as much as 25% and get Tysoned or Pacquio'd when you can pay Haymon 1/3rd and get much more in your pocket.

Look at all the programming that FOX got for that investment, though...it wasn't just about the UFC on FOX events, that happen infrequently.

It was also about FOX getting all of the UFC's programming, which FOX was able to then take and put all over what eventually became their new sports channels, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2.

For example, for the FS1 weekly ratings for February 2-8, four of the top five shows, and seven of the top 10 are UFC...and a lot of them aren't even live.

                  1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT: McGregor vs. Siver (taped) Sat 7:31PM- 9:30PM 119 0.2 308

                  10 UFC COUNTDOWN 183: Silva vs. Diaz Fri 8:00PM- 9:00PM 60 0.1 244

UFC re-runs do better numbers than live boxing does on FS1...even if the PBC can significantly improve the ratings that Golden Boy does on FS1 (and other channels), it still has a ways to go to beat out the UFC's ratings...especially when it comes to the 18-34 year old male audience that drives the UFC's ratings and brings in the sponsors.
