Some old nursing patients cannot move themselves or do anything so they use a catheter to eat. You have to move them before every 30 minutes or they will develop bedsores. I had to replace those and there food smells like ****. Not only that but I did have to clean feces for them also since they have to have a diaper because they cannot go to the bathroom.

For the old patients that can control themselves, you still have to give them a bath and some are too lazy to clean themselves. Yes you have to clean them too lol.

Ya sometimes the patients are very nice and thank you for helping them, not only that but a lot of girl nurses and female visitors always thank you. There was plenty of hotties that come and visit to meet her grandma/grandpa. I also got a a lot of numbers and fun with them . Theres also very sweet patients who starts to act like family like a grandma. But its really sad when the next day you find out she pass away, happened to 2 patients I know.

Some of the patients really puts there life down, and say stuff that would put your whole day upside down. For me, I am not very emotional at all and very few patients really made me feel deep sympathy. Some patients cry to me and ask me questions like "Why did my daughter put me in this facility?" Which I cannot answer. I always see girl nurses really down when they hear stuff like that. There is a lot of stuff that will put you down SPECIALLY if your emotional and I dont consider myself emotional at all. I probably cried twice in my 9 months working. But ya its a really stressful job.

OH YA I CANNOT FORGET TO TELL YOU ANOTHER NEGATIVE.

      PAPERWORK!!!!!

So much paperwork, yet your doing more work then the actual doctors who comes and visit once a week. If you make a error on the paperwork, you will be blamed which I seen a few get introuble for. I mean This job is stressful enough with paperwork, but when it comes with paperwork its a B!TCH!

Nothing wrong guys going for nursing. During my nursing orientation at my college, half the group were guys. Ended up changing my major though. Decided it wasn't for me plus it was really competitive to get into the program. Even the straight A students struggle to get in.

Wow, that's a lot of info. I'll def. consider all that. Damn, now it makes me think like, "is this what you really want?" I don't know though. The paperwork part makes me want to really think about it.

I forgot to say thank you for the information.

I got nothing against male nurses. I remember before deploying for Iraq and Afghanistan we were given Anthrax vaccines. Those boys' hands were just as gentle as the female nurses. I felt no pain at all. I keed, I keed.

All kidding aside...a couple of my close friends are registered male nurses and one of them is making close to $40/hr. They get a lot of off time as well. Yeah, they work hard, but they play harder. Usually hit up casinos on their days off. I wish I made enough to roll with them more often.

Nursing: Good job, good benefits, good pay and you're doing something to make a damned difference.

90% of the jobs out there entail making more money for shareholders. Which is great and everything because without the private sector there is no economy. But I always found it hard to motivate myself in the private sector.

There is nothing shameful about male nursing.

It pays decent and you are doing a respectable job that is needed in society.

Of course if you become a nurse you want to be a nurse for an OBGYN. No bed pans, or bags to empty and the job benefits are good.

maybe pinoy zoi should ask to be transferred to another department? Is that possible? Where there is less of the **** and the blood? My friend who is working as a male nurse somewhere in LA told me that he works at the dialysis department and sometimes at the mental ward. Easy work at the dialysis coz you just have to wait for them to finish with their treatment. And for the mental ward, its easy to control them (not the violent patients). He racks up a lot of OT pay, then after around 6 months or so, goes on an extended vacation.

You will have to go through all aspects of being a nurse, but eventually can you request to be assigned to a "cleaner" nursing position?

It's good money, and you'll always be needed somewhere. It can be a stressful job though.
