Wilder doesnt have the wow factor. His skills are mediocre at best. But he can punch and he is American, so he gets attention.

He's done very well so far and he's a threat. Especially if he continues to progress.

Oh, but he also got killed himself BY A BUM - Busta' maah-fooking-Douglas (as Roger Mayweather owuld call him) got all up in that ass.
Buster opened Mike's ass up, stepped inside, closed that **** behind him.
Buster would beat Wilder, thread over.

Name ONE current boxer that started out with prime competition!!!!
I'll wait ......
What people do not realize is that, like him or hate him, Tyson fought more than 10 times in 1986 , you cannot expect any boxer to face 10 top contenders in one year -and- go on to win a title.

Yeah Tyson wiped out his share of bummy opponents right up to Berbick.
Tyson's opponents were somewhat better quality from a win/loss perspective but Wilder has KOed the heftier opponents.
There credentials are about comparable but in Wilder's defence, Tyson, due to his smallish stature, was pushed to the end by an opponent like Quick Tillis.
It's obvious that if Wilder ever had an opponent like that he would waste him in the opening stanzas.
But in terms of a h2h with Wilder and Tyson, I think Tyson could get in on Wilder and bang him out. Wilder didn't clinch (necessary vs Tyson) and although he is long and fast I don't think he is adept enough to keep the slick and quick Tyson at bay like he did to ambling punch bag Stiverne.
The pressure Tyson applies would be unlike any opponent Wilder faced.
