That feint worked to perfection. Kinda shocked Broner bit on it the way he did. Great post OP.

Its called boxing, but it is a technique, just not a new one. Keeping going to the body to setup the one upstairs, and dipping at the same time, lots of fighters do this, have done this.

The problem is Broner doesn't have a trainer, instead of waiting for it, to defend against he should've been neutralizing it with counters and his superior speed. Someone in his corner had to tell him to throw a counter upper cut, or straight right whenever Maidana dips down.

If you guys remember, Peterson was doing the same thing to Khan, and Roach instructed him to counter with an upper cut, and that's the one time Khan hurt Peterson badly. And Peterson never went back to that strategy quite so much. Not that he needed to, being roided out and all.

The other thing about Broner and I've said this many times, the shoulder rolll only works with extremely nimble, mobile fighters. Broner is very static and you know where he's going to be all the time. At 147 he can't bully people around purely off his athletic abilities.

I appreciate the T.S. pointing out this technique or "trick." It's nothing new but not everyone here has a Teddy Atlas degree in boxing skills and it's nice to point out and discuss one of the many intricacies of the sweet science. There's no need to be pretentious or condescending - this forum is for all fans who have varying levels of boxing knowledge.
