He was not fighting at 140, he had no obligation to fight him - Khan had not defined himself from any other above decent fighter to make it an obligation to fight him. It was nothing more than a potential match up proposed by GBP which Marquez opted not to go with, there never a real basis to make the fight.

Not with regards to it being a lucrative fight.
Your description sounds exactly like a potential Khan-Peterson fight. Which is why I asked the question, why would he avoid a match with Khan and now fight Peterson? Doesnt make sense.

It is very clear Team Khan do business in a very dodgy way and have not got their reputation for low balling for nothing.I doubt the real business terms to Marques were that good but mentioning Marques name was a great move to get lots pf free PR for Khan.
Team Peterson are a lot more straight forward than Team Khan maybe Marques feels there is a chance of getting a deal done.

Lowballing? They offered Bradley a 50-50 split and now they've offered Peterson 50-50. If anything thats "highballing".
Oh and if Marquez's team had been "lowballed", they would have said but Nacho made no such mention of that when he turned down the fight.

Have you seen the contract? There have been many examples of where Team Khan have used the press to make statements of generous offers only later when the other side tells their story the terms are not so good. Peterson was offered $300,00 to fight Khan around thetime of the McClosky negotiations. We were told that Peterson was looking at at and counting Khan's money and was being greedy what came out later was that Team Khan had a rematch clause in there where Peterson got the same money. That was the deal breaker.
We were TOLD by Team Khan that Maidana had priced himself out of a fight. Maidana had to take legal action to get purse bids to get his money.
If Team Khan are prepared to break into a hotel room to grab Ariza's contact to get out of paying him and he was on their side what the hell must it be like sitting on the other side of the table from them?
Everything that comes out from Team Khan must be taken with a pinch of salt. They are consistant liars.
