  • Statements Made On Last Night's HBO Card

Alfredo Angulo: Still very raw, has vulnerabilities with cuts and defense but his pressure and power will make most stationary targets very uncomfortable.

Nate Campbell: Gritty as all get out, showed heart in overcoming mid-round fatigue to pull out much needed late rally. Very interested in 140 pound debut.

Kermit Cintron: Showed a lot of heart in turning the tide after the knockdown. Had he fought the early rounds like he did the last ones he'd have won.

Sergio Martinez: Not the performance he needed to force the networks to get Vernon Forrest in the ring with him.

Cosme Rivera: 154 pounds is not his weight.

Ali Funeka: Nobody knew him coming in but no one will forget him. He is a real force to be reckoned with with his work rate, size, punching power and boxing ability.

Gary Russell Jr.: Still an amateur fighter without head gear, needs to settle down, use his jab and sit down on some left crosses.

Bermane Stiverne: Not a heavyweight savior.

Anges Adjaho: The sleeper of the 140 pound division. Awkward boxing ability and solid counter-punching would topple many in the division, but will he get the fights he wants?

I think that Nate really showed signs of age last night, his body type just screams oldman now. He needs to find either a very beatable guy at 140 (Malinaggi maybe), or find the biggest money fight possible asap.

angulo showed the urgency needed when he got cut...the fight's pace jumped when he started bleeding

sergio martinez won that fight on workrate alone...he also won a majority of the exchanges

      cintron is a b1tch

funeka is a stud with a huge noggin (his head looks to be at least 35lbs)

the ref from the angulo-rivera fight was a dumbass and he looked like Mr. Bean

I belive Martinez, forced, everyone in the ring with that performance

last night, not only did he look sharp, he exposed Cintron, knocked him out

and won, almost every round in the fight, for an unknown boxer

very well done, soild stragitity, moving the wrong way

and making himself known to the public. He had no stock,

now he does, and would make a great oponent for Alfredo Angulo.

What was your take on Bermane Stiverne's performance against Robert Hawkins?
