Nor should the fans be penalized for an accidental blow. Its bad enough we get robbed on decisions!
The Doctor ruled the fighter couldn't continue, so the ref decided to stop it. Salido didn't automatically lose. They gave him a chance by going to the score cards. Every fighter knows this is a possibility in every fight, so he should have been winning on the score cards if he wanted to avoid losing like this. Problem is, Mikey was too damn good to allow that.

Garcia is the guy who left Margarito in against Pacquiao for 12 rounds. Dude is not afraid to send his guy out there battered and bloody. However, Mikey got fouled and compromised in a fight he was dominating. If Sladio had hit that nose, which he broke by an illegal blow, not through any sort of boxing skills, and got a stoppage, what kind of precedent does that set?

If you're losing a fight, just break the guys nose with the headbutt and then punch his broken nose till you get a KO? I swear to god, some of the guys on here do not like or care about boxing at all. Just here to name-call and argue.

Mikey beat Salido all over the damn ring the whole night. Make a rematch and he does it again.

Good post man. Nothing but the truth.

Should of would and could of dont matter in Boxing. And almost only counts in horse shoes! Fighting until the end is what matters. This is Boxing. One punch can change a fight. Even one (accidental blow)! Ben Takie was losing the fight against Roberto Garcia and in the last round pulled of a Ko! Anything can happen!

I cannot get mad at Garcia not wanting to continue in a fight he was dominating when his opponent breaks his nose with a headbutt. I may not like it, but the whole point of the rules in place for situations like this is to prevent unfair advantages when one fighter fouls another.

Let them fight a rematch and settle it.

Pointless rematch to be honest, cause Salido will get his ass handed to him again.

Garcia is the real deal, this kid is taking over for Marquez once he retires.
Exactly what I was saying while watching it. Was really impressed with how Garcia deals with pressure. His footwork/movement was excellent.

Salido had 9 rounds and couldnt accomplish anything. He shouldnt be rewarded for leading with his head. If you look at Salidos face the whole fight he was a beaten fighter looking for an edge.

it's funny how u quote the clip and nothing in that clip or during the hbo broadcast indicates anything other than robert garcia calling in the ringside physician....

he doesn't petition anything at least we don't see or hear him doing so...the ringside doctors made that decision

If the figth would of kept going, and Garcia lost the remainder rounds he would of still won the fight, becuase not only he knocked Salido four different times in differnt rounds. He also dominated most if not all rounds. Salido did landed some and banged Mickey against the ropes but Mickey took it like a champ.

But if somehow Salido would pulled off a KO because of that nasty headbutt that would have been some serious BS! Because the broken nose did not even came from a clean punch.
