  • Mayweather earned it the hard way now he calls the shots dont like dont watch

I can tell a lot of posters on here have no followed boxing very long with some of the comments on here. A whole revisionist history. He is a cherrypicker that doesnt take risks? simple facts throws this assertion under the bus

FACTS THAT YOU DONT KNOW OR IGNORE ABOUT FLOYD MAYWEATHERS CAREER

    1) He won the lineal title in is 18th pro fight, 2nd year as a pro at 21 years of age. Very few fighters have won titles, younger or in fewer fights. Also considering the quality of fighter. Genaro Hernandez was the man at 130 for years and beat the best there. Not no vacant title, against some unranked guy but THE MAN.

    2) Only Manny Pacquaio has won 4 lineal titles and each time he won a lineal title it was against the number one guy, not some vacant title. Hernandez(130), Castillo(135), 147(Baldomir, Mosley), Canelo(154)

Try to name one former lineal junior lightweight world champion who would beat Canelo, Oscar and Cotto.

    2) in 45 fights almost half his fights are title fights and over a third are against future former or current world champions.

    3) With signing to fight Maidana he will have fought 13 world titlists he has defeated 12 in a row....name one fighter in this era or prior who has done so....Whitaker, Chavez, Jones, Hopkins, Toney, Leonard, Hearns, none of them have done this. There may not be a lot of great fighters in his era but he has consistently beat good to very good competition convincingly for a long time

    4) In his early career as pretty boy floyd he called everyone out on HBO TSZYU, ODLH, Mosley, Casamayor, all the top guys avoided him until he became the cash cow

    5) he conceded everything to ODLH for the fight...gloves, ring size, weight class, etc...he earned his spot. The champ doesnt call out guys, face it. you dont have to watch him. I will.

"With signing to fight Maidana he will have fought 13 world titlists"

The above line you posted just summed up everything you had to say. A titlist nowadays doesn't mean that Floyd is fighting the best. Floyd names the best but doesn't fight them. At least, not when they mean something. Which sums up some of the other opponents you listed

It's too bad because in all that smokescreen that you want to have us all believe, Floyd could have had a decent resume but blew it away just to make sure that his precious little "0" remains untouched.

If you objectively breakdown and analyze what you wrote, you would probably delete this thread or deactivate your account and come back as another poster due to your exaggeration .... but again, that is if you are being objective!

Another solid fight for Floyd, coming off a year for which he won Fighter of the Year, only fighter to ever win it in three different decades.

      Yet people still complain.

blah, blah blah....name some one who has? you cant cause it hasnt been done....Mayweather has never fought for a wbo BELT and im not even counting those...that would add corely....

Whitaker, Leonard, Hearns and Jones all fought in the title belt era so dont try to down play it.JCC is so beloved and in over a 100 fights has beat less champions....so has ODLH, JONES, TONEY, JCC , WHITAKER

anyway you slice it is resume is better than you want to admit

If you want to go the lineal or undisputed champion route in 45 fights he has defeated Mosley, Corrales, Castillo, Marquez, Canelo, Hernandez, ODLH, Hatton, Judah, and Baldomir... ten champions....thats like fighting a true world champion every 4-5 fights....a higher ratio than anyone else you can think of.....again like i said...name one

No matter how you want to detract you cant dispute facts. I cant name one fighter in just 45 fights who has defeated 10 world champions.

There are fighters with double the fights who havent defeated 5 true champions

Baldomir had a good year but is NOTHING to write home about but I see that you have his name listed. WHY MAN, JUST WHY?

Marquez had a good year at 130 and moved up to 135 and fought Floyd at 147. Again, but is NOTHING to write home about but I see that you have his name listed. WHY MAN, JUST WHY?

You can name 100 names like that but they mean nothing.

Holmes fought Ali. That is a big name but did that mean anything? No because that was not prime Ali. So STOP THE EXAGERATION!!!

Floyd said it himself that he fights for money. So just leave him fight for money. That is why he wants to be called Floyd "MONEY" Mayweather. It's all a business to him. If it meant more, then he would be fighting the best out there not Maidana or Guerrero or some other guy that was RECENTLY HYPED UP ..... go ask yourself where was Guerrero, Ortiz, Baldomir, Marquez, Maidana and so on the year before they fought Floyd? All HYPE yet you say that you follow boxing for a long time?

Manny fans try and use the win over Oscar like it's something credible but he was less of a shell of his former self than Ali was. Let's not have double standards shall we?

Here is Richard Schaefer promoting. Too funny!

In Marcos Maidana, Floyd Mayweather may be in for his toughest opponent ever," said Richard Schaefer, "Maidana is the type of fighter who will find out if Floyd still belongs on top of the pound-for-pound list. He's strong, tough and aggressive. He in giving Adrien Broner his first loss, he showed that he won't be intimidated by talk, a big fight atmosphere or an unbeaten record. I give Floyd a lot of credit for stepping up to the plate and testing himself once again. He is a true warrior, and the fans will be the winners on May 3rd."
