  • Comments Thread For: Marcos Maidana Has Yet To Begin Training For Return

Former two division world champion Marcos 'El Chino' Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) has yet to begin training for a possible ring return in the fall.

Maidana has been out of the ring since losing back to back fights to WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2014.

He made a lot of money from those pay-per-view encounters and decided to take some time off to spend with his family. But now his inactivity is approaching the one year mark.

Yeah. It will be very hard for him to make 147 any time soon. Maybe never again.

If he does make 147, he would probably lose to the top guys because he will be "drained".

I wish people would quit dogging on Maidana. The guy was bout to quit boxing, got with Garcia & hit the boxing lottery & now the brother is enjoying some of that lottery money while he's still young with his new wife & kid. Give the guy a break.

I'm surprised more guys don't stop for a year to enjoy life. As guys like Mosley & Mayorga show, you can keep getting hit in the head well into your 40's if you wanna so Maidana gots plenty of time to start slurring his words if he choses to.

Plus I think after you get paid a ****load of money it can f#ck with your motivation. When you're broke its easier to beat up your body all day, when you got a 7 digit bank account its a lil harder.

He fought Jesus Soto Karass, Angel Martinez, and Josesito Lopez after the Alexander loss.
