I think he's a Christian. Gennady is a typical Russian name. Also, his brothers fought in the first Chechen war, on the side of the Russians, so I don't think his family was muslim.

As ИATAS said, so far GGG haven't revealed his religious preferences, so it could happen that he is an atheist.

BTW I haven't heard about his brothers fighting in Chechen war, where did u get it from?
And for your information on the "Russian" side many nationalities fought including muslims since Russia is a multinational country.
