Hell he's a tuff sell for the top twenty at welter let alone the second best ever!!!!! Man you have to handed it to the "fanatics" they do love their noses in the brown but you'd think they'd learn something about boxing before such a ridiculous statement.
Ray.
Your comment sparked a memory of something that you said in another thread that surprised me so I looked it up:
'I watched very few bouts from 1991 to 2005. . . Ray'
Do you think that's had an effect on your rating of Floyd and more generally, fighters from the last 20+ years? Because to my mind, a 14 year hiatus leaves a pretty big gap.
I do take into account of course that you also bring a wealth of experience that dwarfs anything that the vast, vast majority of people on this site (including myself) can draw upon when forming an opinion.

Fighting less often makes sense in Mayweather's position. Also, it would be more like Robinson missing Burley, not Lamotta.
So while I don't agree with anything that you've said (in this post, and this post alone), I will say this, and I don't mean it to cause offence, I am genuinely impressed. That last sentence is hyperbole of the highest order!

Interesting. So in skimming this thread I've learned that:
1: Whitaker was not on the downslide when he faced Oscar De La Hoya and that Oscar "win" is better than anything on Floyd's resume.
2. Calzaghe beat a prime Jeff Lacy, Mikkel Kessler and Bernard Hopkins which ****s on any and everything Floyd's accomplished.
3. Oscar has done enough to have his name mentioned with Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali

Everything you say about Whitaker you can say about Mosley.
Lineal champ at 147, P4P #3, rocked Floyd badly on the second round.

That is genuinely hilarious.
But please tell me when floyd defended his belt vs another real champ,, corrales but corrales hadnt been active or at that weight, was going to jail,,, Floyd never fought another champ in his weight classes, in big unification fights like calzaghe,,,
So laugh all you want,, but please tell me the big unification fights that floyd has fought and won vs other active prime champs

Whatever makes your day,,,, Calzaghe has at least taken on the other champs in a division,,, legit champs that are prime, active, undefeated,,, now when has floyd done that,,,,, been a champ and fougth other active champs,, he never fought casamoyer or freitas,, never fought johnston or spadafora, never fought hatton cotto, tzsu, maussa, harris,, never fought cotto, margs, williams, manny, tim,, he doesnt really campaign at jr mw so i wont make a big deal out of that,,,

Im sure there were other guys,,, mosely had one good win, 16 months prior,, I dont think you could have him ranked #3, especially since he had gotten schooled by forrest and winky a combined 4 times, and lost to cotto,, mosely was basically 1-5 in his last 6 fights vs top guys,, not really p4p top 5 material
He didn't face a single legit champ at 168.
thats a lie,,, kessler had 2 belts,, lacy had one and joe had one,, then joe beat them both,,, When did floyd do that???? please tell me the big unification fights he was in at 135, 140, 147.. I wont use 154 because floyd really doesnt campaign there so its unfair to complain about 154
How on earth was he unactive? He had 3 fights in the 12 months prior to the fight all at the same weight he fought Floyd at. You are just making up things here.
i stand corrected,, he had the layoff afterwards, you are right
Why do unifications have any meaning? They are between paper champs, at the end of the day the quality of the opponent is what matters whether its unification or not. Your giving Joe props for the fact that he beat an opponent who beat Manny Siaca for it to even be a unification

Especially if your a longtime champion like floyd is, there is gonna be huge unification fights like him vs cotto, margs, williams, tim, manny at welter
