  • Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Sod Kokietgym - 7/19 in Macau ??

    http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...schedule/index

According to ESPN, Rigondeaux will face Sod Kokietgym, 63-2-1 (28) in Macau.

BoxRec still lists Jonathan Guzman, 16-0 (16) as the opponent. Rigo was supposed to face Guzman but he must not have been approved.

Makes much more sense. He's ranked in the top 5 by both the WBO and WBA.

I was wondering how they would approve a title defense against an unranked bantamweight in Guzman.

Sod must be getting paid peanuts compared to Rigo's minimum

He's also a more credible opponent. Guzman was ranked #14 by the WBA but I think HBO2 refused to approve him.

Well at least this is a semi serious opponent.

And has fought outside of Thailand only twice, losing to Ponce De Leon both times...once by 1st round KO. W...T...F....

The 2006 version would have been a good fight. The first Ponce De Leon fight was razor thin with some giving Looknongyangtoy the edge.

His recent resume is meh though. I guess it's Rigo's last fight on Top Rank so its somewhat of a throwaway regardless.

                    It doesn't Matter

Rigondeaux will put on a masterful performance in this one.
