Best player in the world?
He's not even the best full back in the country.
Billy Slater has him covered all day every day.
Gets pretty tiresome explaining this **** to people.
Hayne is more than a fullback. He gives you a lot more than that. He can basically play as your fullback, strike outside back, key half and number one kicker all at once, all while topping your hit-up count.
And FYI, if you think Slater has been better at full back than Hayne over the past 12 months you are just out and out nuts.
That's my point, he can do something like that, but for half a season before that he was totally off his game.
I don't know if totally off his game is right. I remember watching him early last season and thinking that he was pretty much all Parra had. Then he was clearly NSW's best player in the origin series. He just had a crazy year all-round IMO, and its not like he had been ****house before that.
Also, some more food for thought. How does Billy go playing for Parra? You know, sub out the best hooker in the game, one of the best halves (particularly in terms of his kicking game), a very well-drilled forward pack full of representatives and a backline that includes Greg Inglis with a side that would most likley have come second last if it wasn't for Hayne.
Honestly I find the idea that Billy Slater is a better footballer than Hayne just laughable.
He was busy preparing to have a shocker in the Grand Final.
Which is exactly Brently's point
I don't get it.
A guy plays the absolute house down for 2/3 of a season, being the best player on the field in the vast majority of games and taking a very ordinary side to a GF, when they shouldn't have been anywhere near the top 8, then he doesn't play great in the GF so that is it?
How about how Billy handed the Kiwis the world cup? Or how Slater has had several extremely ordinary games in origin. So much so that they had to bring in Hunt to babysit him?
Slater isn't even in the same conversation as Hayne. It isn't close.
