  • Do you think boxing is turning to the MMA format?

We have seem quite a few up and coming boxers lose. With that being said do you all think that boxing is becoming like MMA where fighters who havent really proven themselves are getting put up against better competition too soon? Your thoughts...

Most ATG's lost in the first 10/20 fights that's how they learnt. Prefer that than protecting them for 35 fights and they learn nothing.

Boxing is it's own animal. It's done it all before. Nothing that has been done or is being done in MMA has not been done in boxing before. IMO, there is no need for the comparison. Boxing is broad and different people in the business do things differently.

Everyone lose some point only a few go undeafeated and they usually the ones who pick and chose who they fight, but for the most part all lose at one time. This is boxing you stick around to long you will lose, you fight the wrong person at the wrong time for you , you lose. It happens.

I think we as boxing fans put to much on the "0" lol. a "0" doesnt mean anything to be honest. ALI lost, SRR LOST, everyone lose. that what happens when you fight the best out their everytime and not go into retirement when the real fights are out their lol.

          not even close.

JDS getting a shot proved worthy, so did Jon Jones.

Chris Weidman isn't getting his shot, and when you dip below MW in the UFC, everyone is a proven who is getting a shot

and with MMA you have to take into account orgs instead of promoters (same thing really), but diff.

Nah. This has been the way boxing has always been. Not every prospect passes their first test. Boxing can be very unpredictable with it's match making. It's nice to see a guy quietly working his ass off come to the big stage (usually as an opponent) and show what he's made of..sometimes at the expense of a prospect.

I have yet to see any boxer get on top of his opponent and dry hump him while applying some leg wrapping technique so no it's not following anything mma.

I've seen Boxers rub themselves against their opponents, it happens in fights.

Not the same as mounting another half naked sweaty man and wrapping your legs around him for 20 minutes is it?
