UCC TO EXPLODE ON TSN IN 2003 WITH 48 BROADCASTS!
Montreal (Canada) – Already heavily consumed preparing its greatest show ever, the Universal Combat Challenge proudly announces the biggest news in Canadian Mixed Martial Arts broadcast history. The UCC has reached an agreement with CTV Specialty Television Enterprises© that will see it’s incredible brand of MMA entertainment to be delivered to millions of eager fight fans on Canada’s Sports Leader – TSN. This 2003 season on TSN will include the best fights from past UCC’s as well as future events, for a total of 48 broadcasts on TSN and 112 broadcasts on ESPN CLASSICS CANADA™.
Setting the standard in Canadian sports broadcasting, TSN’s comprehensive schedule includes it’s flagship news program ‘Sports Centre’ as well as NHL and International Hockey, NBA Basketball, CFL Football, PGA/LPGA Golf, MLB, NASCAR, F-1, and CART auto racing, not to mention World Cup Soccer, The Olympic Games, great Amateur sports action, and of course live WWE programming. TSN is majority owned by CTV Specialty Television Enterprises Inc, and is available in over 8 million households. TSN’s programming, as well as its news content is also available online at www.tsn.ca
Now with TSN on board, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is reaching another giant step before exploding on the world sports scene. “I have never been more excited for the sport of MMA and the UCC as I am today” said UCC owner and president, Stephane Patry. “Canada is home to one of the most incredible and innovative fight promotions on the planet, so it didn’t take much time before TSN added our product to their regular programming schedule” added Patry.
The UCC made its long awaited debut on TSN in the month of September 2002 with a two-part showcase of “UCC 10: Battle for the Belts”. After the initial success of that show, TSN was quick to jump on the idea of making the UCC a part of its regular programming line up. The UCC is already rising to the top as the fastest growing promotion in the sport, with it’s highly successful pay per view shows featuring world class fighters such as David “The Crow” Loiseau, Jens “Little Evil” Pulver, Jeremy Horn, John “The Natural” Alessio, Sean Alvarez, Georges “Jungle” St-Pierre, Tony “The Freak” Fryklund, Jermaine “Bamm Bamm” Andre, Duane “Bang” Ludwig, Mark “The Machine” Hominick, Ivan Menjivar, as well as a great roster of the world’s best fighters known for their exceptional performances in the UCC ring.
