  • Comments Thread For: Nonito Donaire's Return is Targeted For Araneta Coliseum

Top Rank never lost faith in Nonito Donaire picking himself up and one day returning to glory, despite how his 2014 campaign came to a close. The four-division champ suffered the lone knockout loss of his career as he was stopped in six rounds by then-unbeaten featherweight titlist Nicholas Walters, the fight providing enough proof that the Fil-Am star was best served to drop back down in weight.

admit it all Donaire is-is a weak joke afraid of Rigo

Donaire dodged and hid from mares and Rigo for years and is now hiding from all legitimate contenders. The Weak little fraud pinoy Donaire is a frail old nothing. Scared of a challenge. little fake.

The weight and size excuses are laughable. Those are the same advantages Donaire had over the majority of his opponents throughout his career. Donaire's erosion of skill and technique over the years is what got him in trouble against Walters.

          What an idiotic post .

Donaire moved up to 122 in early 2012 , fought Rigo in early 2013 . is that what you call " ducking for years " ? so what if he fought a couple tune ups before taking on Guillermo ? who can blame him for taking a seven figure payday to fight Arce ?
And lol at Mares .... not only he got exposed and was a never a bad stylistic match up for Donaire, he was actually with Golden boy during the period when they didn't do business with Arum ..

seriously , the guy is the only name opponent to risk everything and take on Rigo , yet people still hate on him . scared of a challenge ? fighting Rigo and the much bigger walters is being scared of challenges ? calling out Frampton , Quigg, and even Rigo for a rematch constitute ducking all the legitimate contenders ? GTFO with that **** .

The 122 pound experiment wasn't going too well for Donaire. After facing numerous smaller men in the previous years, he had a tougher than expected time with Vazquez Jr. and Mathebula, the first two guys in years that he didn't have a size advantage over. So his promotional outfit would do what they had to do protect him. Arce and Nishioka were showcase fights, two shorter, past it opponents. The only reason they matched him with Rigondeaux after that is because they felt that Rigondeaux was just another smaller opponent, that Donaire would overpower. Recall Donaire was somewhat protected at bantamweight also. He didn't face any of the five best guys there, Montiel was solid, but Montiel, Sydorenko, and Narvaez, were much shorter, and weren't better than the Bantam Tourney guys or Moreno. Arce, and Nishioka was also shorter and smaller looking than Donaire in the ring.

As far as Walters being much bigger? That puzzles me. Donaire has been the bigger man in the ring much of his career, yet HBO and Donaire apologists keep using that excuse. Walters was one inch taller, and had five pounds on him in the ring, so what, if you got the skill you got the skill. Mathebula, was several inches taller, and heavier in the ring as well. Likewise Donaire had at least three inches, and 10+ pounds on Rigondeaux. Donaire also had three inches on Montiel, four on Sydorenko, two or three on Arce etc. Not sure why Walters being an inch bigger and five pounds heavier is part of an excuse. Donaire wanted to move up to featherweight. Walters was average size for a featherweight at 5'7. If you look at the top 20 or so featherweights, he is about mid range in height. So quit with the size excuses, and hope Donaire gets back to the gym, gets in shape, and gets his old work ethic back.

Fights Rigo, than fights Walters, than has talks with Quiggs team for a fight and Quiggs team backed down to fight Frampton(understandable), was gonna fight Gradovich next but Gradovich said he needs more time adjusting to the weight before fighting someone like Nonito, but hes a duck doe. Lol Mares, who else fought Rigo? Such non sense from your post.
