Hopkins was so much bigger than De La Hoya that the CW made the fight more competitive. Same with Lalonde and SRL. With Cotto you have the lineal MW champ draining a guy who is past prime, has lost 2 of his last 4 fights and isn't exactly known for punching power. When he should be fighting GGG or Canelo.

you know ppl like to compare pac-cotto to this.

1. cotto was pacs 1st real fight at 147. pac previous fight was 140.

cotto already got his catchweight MW fight when he fought martinez.

2. pac defended his 147 belt with no cw. clottey, mosley, bradley, etc. were all 147.

pac's cw WW fights were with jmm who is not a WW and algieri who was a 140 fighter.
