Be it kickboxing, MMA or even Muay Thai, elbow knockouts are rare, where as punch knockouts are common, elbows tend to cut far more often than they KO.
Why is this?
The elbow has less joints that the arm so there is less loss of power, its attatched right next to the body and to a thicker bone, the surfce of the elbow is a point so it has a very high pressure per square inch, its extremely solid and unforgiving, and its one of the hardest points on the human body.
So why dosnt it cause anywhere near as many KO's as boxing punches?
Is it because boxing power generation isnt utilised?
Is it because the clinch allows you to avoid them too easily?
Is it because they are so hard to land due to their lack of range?
What gives?
