You might save money or get a bigger diamond for your budget by buying a certified loose diamond and a ring setting separate. But between us guys, certification is a bunch of BS, unless you're trying to avoid buying a conflict diamond. Certification and diamond grading is how the diamond industry turned a common and very abundant gemstone to a valuable commodity. It's resale value is going to be less than what you paid for it. But, we have to play the game with our lady so that she isn't embarrassed in front of her friends. I hear Canadian diamonds have high marks in quality.
