Do you mean as of right now, in 2014, or in their respected era's? Because Joe Louis for example was bigger than possibly anyone his rematch with Max Schmeling was listened to on the radio by over 100 million people worldwide. That's crazy.

You realise boxing in the 1920' - 40's was the single biggest sport in the entire world? Not just america but the world.. Jack Dempsey is widely regarded as the most famous athlete of his time, that's over guys like babe Ruth etc.. When he fought it was front page news!

Now you could argue that Muhammad Ali eclipsed him as time went on and boxing faded from the premier sport to a niche sport..

No matter how famous they get or how much money modern day fighters make, truth of the matter is they don't hold a candle to fighters that have fought in the golden ages.. Sad but true
