  • Why is the WBC and GoldenBoy blocking the Trout fight?

Canelo is 22 with over 40 fights, why can he not fight a top 154 pound fighter? He has 1 legit 154 fighter on his resume and thats fucking Ryan Rhodes. How can they make a fight with Cotto who just lost 2 fights in a row and not fight Trout and expect people to accept that? GoldenBoy is no better that Top Rank, hell they were still going to let Hatton fight Mallinaggi and he got knocked out

They know Trout is way too much of a risk. Same reason they didn't put him in with Lara in 2012 and the same reason they didn't put him in with Kirkland in early 2012, when everyone wanted that fight.

Thing is Canelo seems to be a solid fighter but until they take him off the damn leach he will never grow into his full potential,The Lopez fight was down right embarrassing

I'd be ashamed to fight cotto after he had just lost two in a row.

You're talking about a kid who won his belt from a WW, defended his title against more people below his weight than at it and hasn't fought a legit challenger since Ryan Rhodes

Yep, the fights he's taking aren't challenging enough to make him any better. They're going to move him slowly for so long, that once they put him in with a class opponent, it will show.

I'm talking about after Kirkland stopped Angulo in November 2011, and Canelo was set to return in May 2012 on the Floyd undercard. Golden Boy could have easily made Canelo-Kirkland, and a lot of people wanted that fight then. Instead they made Kirkland fight top ranked Carlos Molina, and Canelo fought Shane Mosley for god's sake. It was only after Kirkland showed weaknesses against Molina that Canelo wanted to fight him. Why not fight him coming off a big and impressive win???

Still even now, fighting an Angulo or Kirkland would be a major step up for him. I'd even take fighting Bundrage, at least he's in the Top 10.
