Vinyl cost HBO $100 mil and it was canceled. HBO launched Bill Simmons website and his new show and both are doing horrible. His debut show this past Wednesday did 260k in ratings. Bill Simmons salary alone could fund Postol vs Crawford and Ward vs Kovalev. But let's just keep focusing on PBC

hbo is just banking their budget waiting for haymon to fold so they can get all their fighters back.

People have been talking about HBO's budget limitations, where have you been?

But I find it interesting that in a thread with (potentially) new information about PBC/NBC, you want to deflect to HBO.

Nah, they will consolidate or reduce budget if they need to but I doubt they will end. There are always other networks and other sponsors.

          There are other networks.

It's interesting, and perhaps not coincidental, that Richard Schaefer re-enters the picture now, as some of the PBC deals perhaps start to wind down.

He worked on the FS1 deal for GBP and he's stated that one of his goals is to go to the networks early and get something in place as a way to then attract fighters, including potential free agents.

We'll see where all that goes.

This might explain better why Fonfora vs who dat headlined the last NBC card. Surely Haymon say/knew the writing was on the wall if Fat Dan did. Look for NBC to get more fights like that one than their early bigger fights til there out.

And this isn't that surprising, we all knew all 8 or whatever of these deals wouldn't work out. And most who are nerding out on TV **** have been saying NBC was the least likely option for this big $100M deal that most seem to believe is the goal of Haymon.

I know posters wanted to make it a race thing like everything else but it was a bad business model, nothing more. You can't recruit every boxer under the sun and pay them millions of dollars to fight overmatched opposition and not re-invest the money into growing your business. They sure spent some money but little of it went to unify the PBC brand across all of the network avenues. It seemed so disjointed and amateurish.

But like I had asked two years ago, what happens to these guys locked into promo deals with PBC if it folds up? Will they be free to switch up or will they be held up by litigation and for years?

Yeah and they also have Game of Thrones, the most watched television series in the world.

                  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/t...the-world.html

"Game of Thrones is HBO’s most popular TV series of all time, being shown in 170 countries and illegally downloaded more times than any other programme on the planet."

Some of you guys seem to misinterpreting this info. PBC isn't going anywhere. PBC on NBC is ending. PBC on Fox, CBS, Spike, Bounce, Fox Sports 1 and wherever else is still around + PBC fighters seem to have a huge impact on Showtime boxing right now so even if more TV deals fall thru they will have an outlet for showing their best fighters. Haymon and PBC (in some form) will be around for years, worse case, folks.

Nobody is under any delusions about boxing's struggle for mainstream popularity, but really how could PBC have bungled this thing so badly? The only answer is that it's a huge investor money drain and they never cared about the long term.

It's hard to see any future 100 million + investment into boxing. What a waste.
