        500 combat aircraft
        600 helicopters
        29 warships
        13 submarines

turkey is not latvia or estonia or lithuania that russia can scare.

this is not the cold war era soviet union here.

and russia can't even threaten nukes.

        turkey has nukes too.

          • some points a lot of ppl here don't seem to understand:

            1. that russian plane wasn't some slow bomber. it was a twin engine SUPERSONIC jet fighter bomber. it could have avoided confrontation if it wanted. turk F-16 (TURKS HAVE 250 F-16) are fighters NOT interceptors. russian Su-24 could outrun them if they wanted.

            2. russians wasn't bombing ISIS. they were bombing ethnic turk rebels. they've done it before. turkey has even accused russia of bombing in turk side before.

Even if Russia did enter Turkish airspace I don't think it needed to be shot down.

Turkey always picks the wrong sides.

As one of the 2 major powers (the other being Iran) in the area, I think Turkey has a responsibility to help flatten ISIS and to provide solidarity in the region to all dissenters.

Some Turkish/Iranian and Turkish/Russian cooperation is in order.

This sort of rubbish only serves to strengthen both Islamic terror and American corporatism in the area. Lose/lose for all involved.
                turks CAN'T cooperate with iran/russia.

iran/russia is trying to keep assad govt in power.

                turkey is supporting anti-assad rebels.

                • Russian lives are generally meaningless to the American media, it's pretty sickening.

when the Russian airliner went down, 224 innocent people lost their lives in a tragic attack. instead of remembering and showing respect to the victims, they used it to blast Russia and putin..."uh well uh maybe they will take ISIS seriously now", an absolutely ridiculous statement in of itself.

meanwhile the attack on Paris was "omg an attack on the civilized world! add the French flag to your facebook photo guys!"

and now this. "serves Russia right for being macho lolol"... despite the US being the # 1 offender in airspace violations...

the dead Russian pilot is a ****ing hero, he flew day and night to combat terrorists and so called moderate terrorists. we shouldn't forget that.

hero should have known to hit his afterburners and bone the F out.

those were modern F-16 Fighting Falcons the turks were flying.
