  • Deontay Wilder vs. Mike Sheppard

Deontay Wilder said on his facebook Mike Sheppard will probably be his next opponent. Apparently Darnell Wilson wanted the fight, but he was deemed too much of a risk.

Sheppard is an age 39 high school teacher who was KOed in his pro debut back in 1997.

He's lost 5 of his past 6 fights. Sheppard has been KOed in round one by a number of boxers:

Simon Welms Nielsen, Jeremy Bates, Joey Abel, Ruslan Chagaev and Vinny Maddalone.

And KOed in round 2 by the following boxers:

Horace Ray Grant, Denis Boytsov, Chad Van Sickle, Clifford Etienne and Chris Clark.

Should Wilder not be fighting someone at least in the Boxrec top 300?

to be fair, the fight got thrown together on like a 2 week notice. not sure if it's even going to be televised. he's got Stiverne lined up next.

can understand him taking on a low risk opponent in this case but why someone this ridiculously fragile? what good will it do him? they could have picked someone with no power or offensive skills but a good enough chin or defense to at least give him a bit of a workout. this fight is just ridiculous

This is a week before the fight... so it's kind of alright.

But were they really just like, you feel like fighting next week? Screw it, fight next week

this will be one of Wilder's most seasoned foes

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sheppard herds that little lamb into retirement

Wilder is an absolute joke and I can't wait until Stiverne knocks him out.
