He won 2, I think. They said with his second win last night, he had won more than any other artist. So I imagine they were just trying to give him the record for having won the most. He definitely didn't deserve to win.

He was also nominated for Artist of the Year, though I'm not sure how. He didn't win that one though, thank God.

Jackson was voted favorite male artist in the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories. His 2003 greatest-hits album, "Number Ones," also won favorite album in both categories, bringing his career AMA total to 23, making him the most honored artist in AMA history.
