Duva just doesnt have the $ or pull to compete with the big dogs in boxing. Being a smaller promoter sometimes you just have to learn to take one for the team sometimes and hope your fighters comes out unscathed if you cant compete with the purse bid. If your fighter wins and becomes a star than the ball is in her court but she aint thinking like that... All this talk about Russian billionaires is insecurity.

And the timing excuse won't fly because she could have another purse bid right now if she really wanted it.

Only in boxing will you find promoters who expect the athletes to turn down money from the highest bidder.
She didnt ask for the purse bid. She asked for Kov to be named mandatory challenger to Stevenson. She assumed she could then freely negotiate the fight, and make a deal with Gym/Haymon for the fight to be on HBO. She was wrong, because Gym/Haymon had no interest in negotiating the fight, they wanted to send it to purse bid, and informed the WBC that they would not negotiate and wanted to go to bid instead.

She is a Promoter, one of the requirements for being a Promoter is that you have to be a Great Liar. Like for example "This Is Going To Be A Great Fight!" even when you know it is a mismatch

What Promoter doesn't lie and contradict themselves in the sport of boxing?

To keep on producing Videos like that, knowing your promoter is doing everything to avoid the next purse bid, is just fake.
He is still playing tuff, while being aware Kathy Duva is over protecting him from Stevenson.
Kovalev must stop fooling the fans about his real intentions, and agree to participate to the next purse bid, with his (so called) Russian investors.

So what's wrong with a promoter asking for a purse bid? Purse bids happen all the time..

                    .........."somehow got a promoter gig"......................hahahaha!

....she's the daughter in law of boxing trainer Lou Duva and was the wife of promoter Dan Duva (deceased). She's been involved with boxing since 1979 and is the current CEO of Main Events Boxing that had alot to do with jump starting ESPN boxing out of Totowa N.J. In the beginning the shows were out of the Ice Palace and broadcast first on the east coast then nationally. I worked alot of those shows right up to the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
Kathey was involved in Main Events right from the start and she knows her
                    business very well.
I'd say she's done pretty well for herself over the years, she knows more about the boxing business than anyone on this forum.
Thats not saying a lot but compared to what people here "think" is going on she's a genius.
