  • Court decides Denis Boytsov is free of Universum

The Hamburg District Court has ruled that heavyweight Denis Boytsov is free to go ahead with his fight against Marcelo Luiz Nascimento of Brazil in Schwerin, Germany on Sunday.

Vladimir Klutch of the bankrupt Universum had claimed that Boytsov was still under contract.

HELL YEAH! From a boxing standpoint, this is excellent news... Legit HW contender who is going to be a difficult fight for anybody at the moment.

From a humane perspective, good ****ing riddance. Screw those scumbags at Universum. They're bankrupt for a reason and that ridiculous article a couple weeks ago where Klutch said Boystov is bound to them, etc etc...... Said everything that needed to be said about them.

Bunch of greedy liars. Very happy for Boystov!

Selfish promoters like Vladimir Klutch, Ahmed Oner, Don King and Bob Arum who hurt the sport of boxing and the careers of talented fighters.

Hopefully Boytsov will sign with a good promotional company like Warren, Golden Boy, Sauerland, or K-2.

At one point wasn't Boytsov co-promoted by Golden Boy? I think it may have been before Kluch bought Universum but i remember expecting him to fight in the US and thought it made sense considering his style although it never happened.

Edit - Yes i checked and Boytsov and Chakhkiev signed and were to be co-promoted by Golden Boy in Jan 2011. Chakhkiev did fight on one or two Golden Boy undercards his fight against Jolly being an example.
