Do you think Sonny Liston was overrated?

Liston had probably reached his peak before 1964 - still, he was #2 behind Ali for the years following.
If there never was a Ali, I can see Liston lose the crown against Frazier in 1968.

Quite overrated. Very, very hands made of stone, but slow as molasses. Modern hw's would beat him easily.

I don't know about that. Take a look at his fights against Cleveland Williams. He wasn't that slow.

If any heavyweight is underrated it's Cleveland Williams. I think that if Liston wasn't there he would have taken the crown from either Patterson or Johansson.

i dont have a list, but Liston probably ranks around top 15 or may be just into the top 10 imo. Head to head hes gotta be in the top 4 or 5. Decent size, solid chin, great power, good jab. Very good fighter.

Ali was definitely rusty in FOTC, still a great win though.
