      This can't be disputed.

        4. Felix Trinidad
        5. Mark Johnson
        6. Shane Mosley
        7. Ricardo Lopez
        8. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
        9. Naseem Hamed
        10. Johnny Tapia
I wonder how many of them were on steroids (or PEDs). Offhand, I can see 4 strongly linked (3 failed tests) and a couple rumored. Also, another with questionable wraps. It's like looking at the 100m line-up from the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

I like to think today's list is at least somewhat "cleaner".

Floyd announced that he was retiring after he fought Hatton. That was in 07. Who were the welterweights that were heating things up at the time?

but respect to Manny Pac..for climbing from flyweight to winning titles at welter

Actually he retired after the oscar fight, then cameback for hatton the same year, then went back into "retirement"
And to answer your question about who were the welters heating things up,,
Shane had a great throwdown with cotto, margs vs cotto in summer of 2008, paul williams had just iced quintana in 1 to avenge lone loss, clottey was beating up everybody they put in front of him,,

You have to realize that floyd wouldnt get the hate he does if he would have stuck around and fought shane in fall of 2007, and then fought cotto in 2008...
And dont say that everyone is dodging floyd,,, PRe-oscar yes, but after the oscar fight, floyd became the biggest draw in the sport and can make any fight he wanted to.... piggybacking off the oscar fight, a fight with shane would have been huge, then fight hatton in early 2008, and setup a huge fight with cotto in summer of 2008,,,, Thats why floyd gets alot of heat, because he comesback to fight slow undersized jmm, ortiz, old shane, old cotto, and ghost....
