This evening at 7:00 pm EST,Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri hit the scales for tomorrow night's HBO pay-per-view main event from Macau.
Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO) and Algieri (20-0, 8 KO) will be battling for Pacquiao's WBO welterweight title at a catchweight of 144 pounds (or 143+1). Pacquiao, 35, is the heavy favorite in the fight, but the 30-year-old Algieri has beaten the odds already this year, when he toppled Ruslan Provodnikov on June 14 to win the WBO junior welterweight title. (Algieri has since been stripped of that belt.)
The undercard fighters will also be weighing in, of course. Vasyl Lomachenko (2-1, 1 KO) will defend his WBO featherweight title against Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (52-1, 33 KO); Zou Shiming (5-0, 1 KO) will face Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym (27-0-2, 12 KO) in a 12-round flyweight bout; and Jessie Vargas (25-0, 9 KO) will meet Antonio DeMarco (31-3-1, 23 KO) in a junior welterweight bout, also set for 12 rounds, with Vargas' "regular" WBA title at stake.
Pacquiao vs. Algieri: round-by-round updates
Judges:
Round 1: Pacquiao opens southpaw while Algieri is orthodox. Pacquiao attacking early with left hands in the center of the ring against a largely defensive Algieri. Strong right hook, too, by Pacquiao. Straight right from Algieri also finds the mark.

He says it's a slip, but given a ten count, anyway. Pacquiao is pressuring and finally scores a left hand, but Algieri's defensive fundamentals are strong. Right hand just misses for Algieri. Pacquiao looking to score when Algieri is against the ropes, but Algieri is on the move.

Left hand for Pacquiao crushes Algieri and sends him to the mat. He answers the standing 8-count and now Pacquiao drops him again, albeit the same one where the water as on the canvas.
