  • Why does the Eagle represent America? I tried googling so don't be an ass

I tried googling it but didn't come up with much information so I probably suck at googling. But when you go to airforce type shows, they will use an eagle to fly around and stuff like that. And before one of the football games last year, I think it may have been the super bowl they had an eagle fly around the stadium which was cool but at the same time if that bird didn't follow orders it could have attacked someone. And the eagle is also on our money.

I'm glad they choose that as the animal to represent America, because I'm an Eagles fan(football). The team that has an Eagle representing it still have not won a super bowl sadly... They won the year before it!

The Eagles are going to beat the **** out of the Lions this Sunday, Michael Vick is going to make another statement.

If we have Michael Vick starting for us against The Redskins, we will win that game! But if we put Kevin "the joke" Kolb in, will probably lose that one. Our team is a good team still even with the fresh new talent but I think Michael Vick is the quarterback Andy Reid should be sticking with. They wasted money on Kevin Kolb, he isn't good enough to win us a super bowl. Atleast not this year!

The funny thing about this all, is that I was a huge Michael Vick fan when he was on The Falcons. And now that The Eagles have him, I really do believe this isn't coincidence and he is the key for The Eagles to win their first Super Bowl.

Ever saw a skunk on any flag? No? Eagles on flags are just a display of ego-trip.

I guess it's a good thing Benjamin Franklin didn't get his way,
or US dollar bills and insignia would bear a turkey.

In a letter to his daughter, Benjamin Franklin wrote:

"For my own part I wish the Eagle had not been chosen the representative of our country. He is a bird of bad moral character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead tree near the river, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the labor of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a fish, and is bearing it to his nest for the support of his mate and young ones, the Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.
With all this injustice, he is never in good case but like those among men who live by sharping & robbing he is generally poor and often very lousy. Besides he is a rank coward: The little King Bird not bigger than a Sparrow attacks him boldly and drives him out of the district. He is therefore by no means a proper emblem for the brave and honest Cincinnati of America who have driven all the King birds from our country...
"I am on this account not displeased that the figure is not known as an Eagle, but looks more like a Turkey. For the truth the Turkey is in comparison a much more respectable bird, and withal a true original native of America . . . He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a bird of courage, and would not hesitate to attack a grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his farm yard with a red coat on."
