Is it really wise to underestimate an entire country though? An entire self sustaining nation of Millions of people?

You can underestimate a person or a group of people, but to underestimate a country is foolish.

The danger isn't their soldiers, it's their scientists.

Who knows what they're developing behind closed doors with unlimited funding. If history has shown anything, it's that given enough time and resources, human beings can cause massive destruction far beyond what you would expect.

IDK, good science takes huge resources. The North Koreans do well with a small resource base in absolute terms.

Their 180,000 Special Forces [as covered on DW] would present a huge challenge.

north korea is not a country u wanna mess with.. i mean just look at how they treat the rest of the people living there, and its their own kind! do u think they have anything to lose? kim jong would order his military to go all out.

This is the problem, N. Korea isn't self sustaining. It's literally starving it's own people to death, and taking the same route the Soviets did for decades and many argue even to more of an extreme.

That system cannot last, not ever. You cannot become a dictatorship/theocracy and put almost all of your resources into the military and think you will succeed.

N. Korea is doomed to fail, it's just a matter of time. They are destroying themselves and their biggest evidence of failure is right to the south of them. S. Korea is a thriving, wealthy nation that is exploding in the world market and showing how democracy and capitalism is the way to go.
