The wife of boxing great Evander Holyfield has filed for a protective order against her husband in Fayette County in Georgia. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that documents filed last week in Fayette County Superior Court show Candi Holyfield accusing her 47-year-old husband of a violent act against herself in the presence of the couple’s two children. Belinda Foster, a publicist for the Holyfields, said in an e-mail Wednesday night to The Associated Press that she’d spoken to both of them and that they remain “a strong married couple.” In a statement released by Foster, Candi said there were misunderstandings about what happened between her and her husband. Evander Holyfield didn’t immediately return a message left on his cell phone. Foster said she was checking to see if the boxer wanted to comment further. The Holyfields were married July 1, 2003. Police did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press

skin, i understand your point... HOWEVER!!! it's okay if people react like that way because such act is just shameful and deserving of harsh words and criticism.

it doesn't matter if a thousand fighters have beaten women or not - the act is just out of line and it isn't justified or seen like less of a big deal just because it's been done before. i'm actually glad to see people react in such a way because it shows there's still those who have their morals in check and there's no tolerance for domestic violence. if anything, we should continue to express our disgust at violent acts like those and continue to show there's no place for that in our society.
