    Mares is not ducking Miura. He simply decided not to move up in weight. It was a wise decision, he would be too small at 130.

      A loss doesn't enhance a fighter's legacy directly. But it can enhance a fighter's legacy indirectly behind the scenes. The loss can show that fighter his weaknesses, and he can then fix those weaknesses. So now the fighter is even better than before.

      A loss is a bad thing in itself, but it can be turned into a positive. Not many people do that though, not just in boxing, but in life.

        Pretty much this. Between promoters who drop a fighter after a single loss and fans with zero long term memory, no wonder fighters are desperate to keep their 0 intact.
