  • How do we fix the robbery epidemic in Boxing?

How can this problem be solved? We know robberies have been going on in Boxing since it began, but that does not make it anymore acceptable. At what point is enough, enough?

What suggestions do have about fixing this terrible problem that hurts our sports credibility? One thing we do know is politics and money are the root cause.

You can't unless you completely take out the human element out of judging. Boxing judging is all in the eye of the beholder so different people all see different things in fight, with training and reviewing judges scoring after fights they might be able to be slightly more uniform but there will always be the human element but who is to say that the people administering the test and reviews really know how to make that work.

What do you think about that?

Simple, when you see stupid scorecards and we all have, I don't mean stupid but "REALLY" way off, like in the Paulie vs Juan Diaz fight, or DLH vs Mayweather...fire the judge.

Worldwide Governing body, if a decision looks ridiculously unfair then there should be an investigation.

If a world title or major fight is in someones hometown/backyard neutral judges and referees should be set up to make sure everyone has the same chance.

And judges with suspiciously wide scorecard should be investigated or suspended.

First off the word robbery actually needs to mean something. When people are calling robbery after every close fight the word doesnt mean anything anymore.

If by robbery you mean every close fight your fighter lost, but you didn't agree with personly and now feel the need to whine about it.. There's no way around it. If by robbery you mean something like RJJ losing the gold medal in the olympics.. That doesn't happen that often. Boxing is subjective and it's about what the individual judge likes to see in close rounds. That's why there's three judges in each fight.

I prefer pro boxing methods even with the pitfalls over the ameture systems, boxing judging will always be flawed you have to just accept it aslong as humans are picking who THEY think won the round.

Judges are human they have biases, make mistake, have opinion and can be corrupted. Even if you have training, tests and reviews on scoring who says the people doing all that really know what they are talking about and the judges will still be human so the same flaws will always be there.

Sanctions for judges with obvious biased scoring. But there will always be debate over close fights.

There's an easy way to ensure sound judging. Select judges who are competent and have a proven track record of fair scoring. Go back to some fights where you thought the judging was accurate and then research the judges who judged those fights. Basically do a background check on them...
